Welcome to Adolphus

General Information

  • Excused Absences: Texas law allows excused absences for religious holy days, required court appearances, activities related to obtaining U.S. citizenship, health care appointments, students in the conservatorship of the state, participation in TAPS at a military funeral, visits with a parent, stepparent, or legal guardian who is an active-duty member of the uniformed services, personal illness, the death or funeral of an immediate family member, or quarantine. Additional information about these absences and required documentation can be found in the Elementary Student Handbook.

Documentation After an Absence: Attendance excuse notes must be received within five (5) school days of the absence. Notes must be signed, dated, and include the reason for the absence. Please note that, unless the absence qualifies as a statutorily approved reason under compulsory attendance laws, the District is not required to excuse the absence, even if a parent or guardian provides a note explaining it.

Five (5) Consecutive Days of Illness: A student who is absent for more than five (5) consecutive days due to personal illness must provide a doctor's note upon returning to school. The note must verify the illness or condition that caused the extended absence.

Attendance notes may be submitted by email but must be sent from a parent or guardian's verified email account. Please include the student's first and last name, grade level, teacher's name, date(s) of absence, and the reason for the absence.

Email attendance notes to Beth Meyer at mary.meyer@lcisd.org.

  • At Adolphus Elementary, we enjoy helping students celebrate their birthdays while maintaining a safe and focused learning environment.

    Birthday Treat Requirements

    • Birthday treats should be served after the lunch period so they do not interfere with students' appetites for a nutritious meal.
    • Treats will be distributed at a time designated by the campus administration.
    • Treats must be store-purchased, single-serving items (such as cupcakes, cookies, or similar individually packaged treats).
    • Treats are limited to one item per classmate.
    • All store-bought treats will be reviewed by the school nurse to ensure student safety and to help address food allergy concerns.

    Items Not Permitted

Birthday celebrations at school are limited to the distribution of treats and do not constitute a birthday party. The following items may not be brought to school:

    • Party favors
    • Treat bags
    • Balloons
    • Flowers
    • Commercial food or drink deliveries

    Important Safety Information

While parents and grandparents may choose to provide birthday treats for their child, they assume responsibility for any adverse reactions that may occur. The district strongly discourages bringing food items to school due to:

    • Protection of instructional time
    • Student food allergies (peanuts, gluten, eggs, etc.)
    • Student medical conditions
    • Liability associated with providing food to students

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a safe, healthy, and positive environment for all students.

  • Bus Rider Information
Students are required to ride the bus assigned by LCISD Transportation and get off only at their designated stop. For safety reasons, students may not ride the bus to another student’s home.

Riding the bus is a privilege, and students must follow the behavior expectations outlined in the LCISD Elementary Handbook.

Special Rules for Pre-K & Kindergarten Bus Riders

    • All Pre-K and Kindergarten bus riders must be met at their stop by a parent, guardian, or designated adult.

    • The responsible person must show identification and present a blue card to pick up a Pre-K or Kindergarten student from the bus stop.

    • The blue card procedure ensures that only individuals authorized by the parent (listed as emergency contacts in Skyward) may receive the student.

If a parent wishes for a Pre-K or Kindergarten student to be released to an older sibling at the bus stop:

    1. The parent must write the older sibling’s name on the back of the blue card and sign it, giving permission.

    2. The older sibling must have the signed blue card with them every day.

    3. If the sibling does not have the blue card, the younger student will return to campus for parent pick-up.

If no authorized adult or older sibling is present at the bus stop, the Pre-K/Kindergarten bus rider will be returned to the home campus.

    Bus Route & Tracking
Lamar CISD uses Versatrans My Stop for bus information. You can view your child’s route, stops, and estimated arrival/drop-off times by visiting: Versatrans My Stop Login

    • To log in, use your student’s ID number and date of birth.

    • You can also download the Versatrans My Stop App to see real-time arrival information.

    • Guardians register one student, and additional students in the same household will be added to the account.

For more details, visit the Lamar CISD Transportation Website.

  • Please note that all student enrollment, withdrawals, address changes, residency verification, and other registration-related services are handled exclusively through the Lamar CISD Central Registration Office. These services are no longer processed at the campus.

If you need to enroll a new student, withdraw a student, update enrollment information, or have questions about the registration process, please visit the Lamar CISD Central Registration Office website using the link below. There you will find step-by-step instructions, required documentation, office hours, and contact information.

We look forward to welcoming your student to Adolphus Elementary and are happy to assist with campus-specific questions once the registration process has been completed through Central Registration.

  • PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP

To ensure that all families have an opportunity to participate, lunch visits are limited to one visit per student per month. This also provides students with opportunities to build friendships and develop social skills while eating with their classmates.

Please Note: Lunch visitors are not permitted on Innovative Day. This allows us to maintain the integrity of the day's unique schedule and activities.

Walk-in visitors may be accommodated if space is available.

When signing up, please select the total number of people in your group, including your student. For example, if Mom and Dad are visiting, select 3 to include both visitors and your student.

Due to space limitations, a maximum of 12 people per grade-level lunch period is permitted. Please limit participation to two visitors per student.

    Reminders

    1. Arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled lunch time and bring a valid driver's license or state-issued photo ID.
    2. Visitors may eat only with their student.
    3. Lunch visitors are permitted only in the main hallway and Café Parent Room during their student's lunch period.
    4. Visitors are not permitted in classrooms, hallways outside the designated area, or on the playground.

  • Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 7:15 a.m. Any student arriving after this time must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to the front office to sign in and receive a tardy slip before going to class.

Tardy time accumulates based on the number of instructional minutes missed. Arriving on time helps students maximize learning opportunities and minimizes disruptions to the classroom environment.

Please note that excessive tardies and/or early pickups may result in truancy concerns and could lead to an investigation of residency status. We encourage all families to make every effort to ensure students arrive at school on time each day.

  • Adolphus Elementary follows Lamar CISD's Elementary Group A schedule.
